  • Summer Sensations

    Mon 11 Jul 2022
We would like to wish everyone celebrating Eid this week Eid Mubarak. There is much to share and celebrate across our family of schools this week. Our new year 7 learners joined our secondary schools for transition day last week, and yet again we had a record number of first choices for places in our schools. Thank you to those parents and families who selected Batley Multi Academy Trust Schools for the next stage of their child's education. We won't let you down.

We are also celebrating success in the primary SATs. Well done to all our staff teams who worked so hard to ensure our children still excelled despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. Most importantly, well done to our young people who achieved so much during the most difficult times. We are incredibly proud of you all.

Over the summer period much work is being undertaken in our schools ready for the new year in September. Plus, we have summer schools taking place for year 6, charity work to raise much needed funds for families who are facing challenging times, plus a cookery school at UBHS. Although the school term may officially finish, the hard work behind the scenes does not. We also wish our A Level and GCSE learners good luck for their results which will be out in August; until that time you have worked hard so now relax and unwind.

We hope everyone can take some time this summer to down tools, rest, reflect and enjoy time with friends and loved ones, and find time to help and support those within our community who may be feeling lonely at times. Community Makes Us. Have a wonderful summer break everyone.
  • Guildhall Graduation

    Mon 04 Jul 2022

It was a pleasure to meet Dame Professor Alison Peacock this weekend in London at the graduation ceremony for the Chartered College. I was very proud to join fellow leaders from around the country who successfully achieved their Chartered Leadership status qualification. Our graduation ceremony was held at the prestigious Guildhall; it was a very grand affair, and a lovely celebration of two years of hard work, especially during the pandemic. This qualification is challenging but hugely worthwhile and beneficial to the education profession.

Engaging with evidence is so very important to teaching and learning, as well as curriculum development. Equally as important is exploring the changing shape of evidence and the need to be adaptable to suit different contexts. What works on a sunny afternoon in June may not work on a dark, wet morning in November. We need to be adaptable, flexible, resilient, innovative and creative.

Across our family of schools we use an evidence-informed approach to school improvement and always ensure we do what is best for our young people, in all our schools across our community. We are very fortunate to have such amazing staff teams in all of our schools, and colleagues who share a restless pursuit of what works for our young people because all our children deserve the very best education.

Batley = brilliant education for all.
