On Friday our Trust family of schools were thrilled to be asked to present their work at the West Yorkshire  Pol-Ed (Police-Education) Conference.

Kiara Azhar, a teacher from Batley Grammar School, has been influential in the production of the learning resources and she received a special commendation on stage at the high profile event. Sam Rodwell, the Head of More in Common (PSHCE) at Upper Batley High School, also spoke about why he felt Pol-Ed was so important for our young people and outlined its significance in the school curriculum, as part of the approach to holistic education. Two of our Upper Batley learners also spoke and were absolutely wonderful ambassadors for their school, our Trust and their local community. We were incredibly proud of how well they spoke in front of a huge, high profile audience at the magnificent Headingley stadium.

Across our Trust family of schools we recognise that community makes us and strong relationships with our communities is essential, which is why all our schools are at the heart of their local community, with Batley itself sitting right at the heart of West Yorkshire.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this wonderful curriculum enrichment project. We all really do have far more in common than that which divides us.

Welcome back! The Summer Term is here, which means we are over half way through the school year. Our family of schools have been busy over the Easter period with our site teams making further improvements to our school buildings. The holidays are when the 'behind-the-scenes' magic happens in terms of painting, building developments and more! Our highly committed staff have been delivering Master Classes to help our young people prepare and build confidence for the forthcoming assessments and examinations. Good luck to all our young people sitting exams this summer.

We were also delighted to see Healey School feature in a national good practice case study, for the Jo Cox Foundation, following their fantastic intergenerational coffee morning as part of The Great Winter Get Together. The Great Get Togethers are all about bringing people and communities together, and tackling loneliness, one connection at a time. Well done to Luisa Lang and her team for this fabulous event, and for all that Healey does to support its young people, staff and our community.

This month has seen so many opportunities to bring people together through Easter, Passover, Vaisakhi and Ramadan. It is a key time to learn about different faiths and demonstrate respect and understanding for all. To everyone celebrating Eid this week we wish you Eid Mubarak, and wishing everyone in our community good health, peace and happiness this week and always.
