  • The beating heart of West Yorkshire

    Mon 26 Sep 2022

This week our secondary schools are opening their doors to welcome prospective families and Year 6 learners to visit our super schools, meet our highly skilled and experienced staff teams and see our excellent learning facilities. Our secondary schools are very popular in our local community and are oversubscribed. We have something for everyone with Batley Girls' High School specialising in education for young women; Upper Batley High School specialising in education for young men and co-education being the specialism at Batley Grammar School.

Our schools pride themselves on using their buildings as tools for learning so please take a look around and see which school you feel is best for your child next September.

Our schools are a family and we all work together to ensure your child receives the very best education, care, guidance and support. Encouraging your child to always be the best version of themselves is a key focus in all our schools.

Applications need to be submitted by the end of October to secure your child's place. We hope you enjoy your visits to our family of schools. If you are unable to attend the open day, or open evening, please contact the school directly.

  • Our Queen

    Mon 19 Sep 2022

Colleagues from Healey Primary School have laid tributes to Her Majesty The Queen at the gates of Buckingham Palace this weekend.

Queen Elizabeth II was Britain's longest serving monarch. She inspired many with her sense of duty and she led with such grace, dignity and respect for others. She defied all expectations of women of her generation. Her warm heart and big smile were qualities that will be remembered by all those who were fortunate to meet her.

Staff and students at Healey School recently celebrated the Platinum Jubilee with a wonderful afternoon tea for members of the community and they wanted to now pay their respects to The Queen. The children felt, in this time of sadness, it is important to remember all of the happy times, and times of celebration, and to thank The Queen for her unwavering service to our country.

  • Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

    Mon 12 Sep 2022

Our Trust family of schools are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II who devoted her life to public service. The Queen was only 25 years old when she became the Monarch, and her coronation was the first ever to be televised. For over 70 years she has reigned as our Queen and has demonstrated such grace, dignity and respect and defied all expectations of women of her generation.

The Queen saw 15 Prime Ministers, and many different Heads of State. She also demonstrated her sense of humour during television appearances with James Bond for the 2012 London Olympics, and Paddington Bear for her Platinum Jubilee. As tributes have poured in from all around the world people have commented on the Queen’s ability to put people at ease, her kindness, and her ability to make them feel welcome.

As The Queen herself once said; “Grief is the price we pay for love”. Our condolences are with the Royal Family, and people in the Royal Households at this difficult time as we join the nation in mourning.

  • Welcome back

    Mon 05 Sep 2022

Welcome back to the new academic year. It has been a busy summer in Batley with a wide range of charity events taking place including the brilliant Jo Cox Way where cyclists travelled from Spen Valley to London and brought communities together along the route. Our Trust schools also achieved an award from the University of Leeds for our work on the Keepin' It Real research project.

Our family of schools has seen our young people secure excellent SATs, GCSE and A level results this summer. Well done to all of our young people who worked so hard during the challenges of the pandemic; never before have young people faced such turbulent times. The commitment, determination and resilience our young people have demonstrated is tremendous and we are so proud of them all. We wish them every success in the next phase of their education journey and they will always be part of the Batley family.

We welcome all of the new young people joining our Trust schools; our primary schools, our secondary schools, those transitioning from Year 6 to Year 7, and those joining BG6 College, our sixth form. We are thrilled you have chosen our schools and we won't let you down. You are on an exciting learning journey and we are with you all the way. Our schools had a record number of first choice applications for places this year, and we thank parents/carers for choosing us as the right school for your child.

We also welcome Manorfield Infant and Nursery School to our Trust, as well as all of our new colleagues joining our family of schools. Mr Simon Riley is now the interim Executive Headteacher at Batley Girls' High School, and Mr Aman Kang is the new Headteacher at Upper Batley High School. We look forward to an exciting year ahead!
