  • Kindness is a gift everyone can afford to give

    Mon 12 Dec 2022

It is difficult to comprehend that 2022 is almost over and this is the last CEO blog of the year. Our family of schools are a hive of activity this week with festive productions, performances and end of term celebrations. The Batley Buzz is tangible in all of our schools and there are so many wonderful achievements to celebrate this term.

Our schools are all collecting food and hygiene products for local food banks as part of our 'bring a tin to get in' campaign. It is a difficult time for many families this winter so the more we can all help each other, the better. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

If you are able to make a contribution - even just one tin of food, one packet of rice, or one tube of toothpaste - your donation would be most welcome. TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More.

Please just pop into any of our schools and leave your donation at the main reception.

The photograph accompanying this blog shows a wonderful piece of artwork on display at Field Lane Junior, Infant & Nursery school. This work was created by children and their parents/carers with a local artist. It represents love, friendship, respect, community and that we all have far more in common than that which divides us.

Have a wonderful festive break and we look forward to an exciting 2023 ahead!

  • Festive Spectacular

    Mon 05 Dec 2022

The Batley Buzz was evident on Friday evening when young people and staff from across our family of schools were invited, by Musica Kirklees, to form a multi academy trust choir and open the special community activities for the annual Batley Christmas lights switch on, outside Batley Town Hall. Young people from Batley Girls' High School, Batley Grammar School, Field Lane Junior, Infant & Nursery School and Upper Batley High School took centre stage and performed a series of festive songs to launch the evening's activities.

Our young people were superb and helped to generate a fantastic atmosphere, with so many proud parents/carers, aunties/uncles, grandmas/grandads and teachers filling the town square to see them. It is always wonderful to bring our community together and celebrate our rich cultural history and diversity. There was even a visit from Santa Claus himself! It really was a wonderfully festive evening that everyone enjoyed.
